A note on solid wood’s appearance:

Solid wood is a beautiful, durable, and premium material, which is why we use it extensively in our products, and part of the appeal of a solid wood product is that it’s unique in its appearance thanks to variations in grain pattern, marks, color, and workmanship.

Our manufacturing process includes diligent lumber selection and face-matching the grain patterns of visible boards when achievable, but it’s still possible that two pieces in the same collection may exhibit dramatically different visual characteristics. This is an unavoidable trait of solid wood, and something we believe should be celebrated, as it makes each piece one-of-a-kind.

As such, the Arcanium Limited Warranty does not cover material variations on solid wood products. If you’re not happy with your Arcanium product due to these reasons, please contact us and we’ll try to find a resolution.

A note on solid wood’s reaction to environmental changes:

Part of the craftsmanship required to create high quality solid wood products is dealing with how solid wood moves.

One might assume that a material which has the word “solid” in its name would be pretty stable, but it’s actually quite the opposite: solid wood is highly reactive to humidity and temperature fluctuations.

Exposure to significant changes in relative humidity, like moving a solid wood part from a high humidity location to a low humidity location (and vice versa) for example, can cause the part to warp or, in extreme cases, split, quickly and significantly. We use high quality sealants and alternate the grain patterns on adjacent boards on all of our solid wood products to combat this issue, but in some cases it may be impossible to prevent a solid wood part from warping.

To minimize the chance of warping or splitting in a solid wood product, we recommend you keep it in a humidity-controlled environment, between 40%-55% relative humidity (RH), within a temperature range of 65 F (18 C) to 85 F (30 C), as well as away from any heating or air conditioning vents, humidifiers, and dehumidifiers.
